Today we left Spain and started our trip back to Provence. We made a stop in Figueres, Spain to check out the Salvador Dali museum. The art of Dali is quite different to say the least, it is worth checking him out on the Internet. He likes interactive art, things that you can touch, things that kids can climb on, pieces that fill complete rooms, that you can only see once you look through an eye piece. Some of his pieces looked like they belonged on movie sets. The museum is very popular, but it was not built to hold the number of people who go through in a day. I can't imagine what it must be like in summer.

After that we crossed the border into France and headed to Leucate to spend a night in a perfect bed and breakfast: Les Maisons de Monsieur Pierre. Our hosts, Monique and Pierre, have a lovely home with a back garden complete with palm, orange and lemon trees, flowers, an outdoor kitchen and eating area. In the morning, we were treated to a breakfast of breads with ~15 kinds of confiture, from mango to fig, cherry to rosé hip, all home made, some the night before. She also served homemade yogurt, with essence of geranium. We also had local sausichon and cheese, it was such a treat. Here's their web site:

After breakfast we were than on our way driving mainly along the coast checking out the flamingos on the way. We stopped near Béziers to see some pre-Roman ruins, Oppidum d'Ensérune, that were occupied from the 6 century BC to the first century AD. When we arrived the sun was shining at our home for the next month, in Les Milles near Aix en Provence.
